Witchcraft
Everyone needed a good quarantine hobby. While some gravitated towards puzzles, others levitated toward witchcraft. The resurgence of the dark arts began in the LGBTQ+ community through healing crystals, tarot cards, and (when practiced safely) spell-casting as a means to empower one another.
According to The Atlantic, "Americans' interest in spell-casting tends to [grow] as instability rises and trust in establishment ideas plummet." And oddly enough, some TikTok teens hoped to restore some normality by casting spells to help ensure a Joe Biden presidential victory (or turn the current president into a pumpkin).
And since the spells worked, big business wanted in. Huge astrology and occult apps are gaining market share and Costar, the most famous, conjured $5.2 million in first round VC funding. My illustration accompanied the question posed if this trend had staying power or would it be exorcised from society.
